Cancellation of additional import charges

At the end of December 2015 the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed a law abolishing the additional import charges of 5% and 10%, which was introduced in February this year.

Cancellation of additional import charges will mean that a group of products that fall under these values, the new year will be able to pass customs clearance less than during the whole year.

New Law №912-VII of 12.24.2015, "On measures to stimulate foreign economic activity" will come into force January 1, 2016. Here you can find the text of the Act and the accompanying documents in the course of its adoption.

Although the introduction of an additional import charges and was designed to stabilize and raise the balance of payments of the country, yet his appearance had a negative impact on the companies involved in the import of food products. High commodity prices eventually reduced the import of meat and meat products in 2015.

If we consider the broader law, its implementation ensures the implementation by Ukraine of conditions of two important documents: the Memorandum of Economic and Financial Policies between Ukraine and the IMF; The Memorandum of Understanding between Ukraine and the EU as a borrower as the lender.
